Are the products I see on your website an all inclusive list? Our goal is to provide everything you need to complete the job correctly. We are always working to expand our product offerings; from systems to power solutions, to accessories. Call us if you are unable to find what you are looking for. Most likely, we've come across the issue in the past and have a solution for you. Do I need to insulate cinder block? Yes. Cinder block will pull a temperature difference into a room quickly. Do I need a vapor barrier? Yes. 6 mil plastic is what is recommended. Where does a vapor barrier go? On the "hot side" or exterior of the room. How long can my line set be? There should be no more than 50' between the fan coil and condensing unit. Can fan coils be mounted differently than you recommend? No, because there is a possibility of leaks. Our units needs to be mounted with the following orientations:
  • WC Series: vertically
  • DQ & LPQ Series: to the ceiling - cannot be to a wall
  • RC Series: horizontally
Do I need to consider the glass when calculating the size of unit I need? Yes. Glass transfers heat very, very well. Any glass used should be double or triple pane with a 1/2" gap between the panes. One solid piece of glass is not an equivalent insulator; even if the same thickness. If there is improper glass design you may see condensation on the outside. In addition, properly designed glass will promote an efficiency increase of up to 20% per wall. Do I need to consider the lights when calculating the size of the unit I need? Yes. So does any other device in the room that will produce heat (television, radio, fountains).
1 Watt = 3.5 BTUH
Do I need to consider the door when calculating the size of unit I need? Yes. An insulated or solid wood door is recommended. Even a tightly closing glass or hollow door will transfer heat. Do I need a dedicated circuit? Yes, for the condensing unit. Not for the fan coil, that can be run on the same circuit as lighting. Do I really need an HVAC contractor to install this for me? Yes for two reasons:
  1. An HVAC tech should be able to answer most of the above questions for you.
  2. Our systems require installation by an EPA certified technician. It is regulated by law.
